What is the After School Assistance Program?

A.S.A.P is:

Academically driven

Voluntary on the part of the student and LSMS

Limited by student/teacher ratio (1 teacher per 15 students)

For the students who are struggling with some conceptual understanding in one or more of the core academic areas (i.e.; Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies)

A.S.A.P is not:

A study hall

A study skills class (i.e.; organization skills, note or test taking skills)

Punishment on behalf of teachers or parents

WHO CAN ATTEND AFTER SCHOOL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM?

A.S.A.P at LSMS is open to students in grades 6-8 who are having difficulty in one or more of the core academic areas.

HOW CAN STUDENTS SIGN UP FOR AFTER SCHOOL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM?

Applications are available through the grade level counselor (listed below) students may be referred by their classroom teacher or by request (self or parent) supported by their teacher recommendation.

When and where is the after school assistance program?

A.S.A.P. meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:50 p.m. in the LSMS library. A bus is available for those students who will need transportation home after A.S.A.P.

After School Assistance Program Expectations

Students will come prepared with all work and materials.
Students will be in the library and signed in by 2:45.

Students will remain in their seats.

Students will use their time productively.

Students will follow school and district policies during A.S.A.P and while riding on the bus.
